Multiplex 10: The Animated Short is an award-winning comedy about the movie-loving and customer-weary staff of the Multiplex 10 Cinemas. Kurt is an usher, pining for that special someone to share his love of horror movies. The newest hire, Jason, is a film snob who just needs a freakin’ job. Despite their differences, the pair will make fast friends—unless they kill each other first.

Multiplex 10: The Web Series!

A Chase Sequence and Strangewaze film, Multiplex 10 was directed, executive produced, and animated by Gordon McAlpin. The short film co-written by McAlpin and Dana Luery Shaw (Echo Chamber, Classic Alice), based on the comic strip Multiplex created by Gordon McAlpin. The cast includes Gordon McAlpin, Tom Brazelton, Dana Luery Shaw, Aiyanna Wade, Javier Prusky (Halt and Catch Fire), Joe Dunn, and Chris Rager (Dragonball Z, Borderlands 2). Tangelene Bolton (American Zealot, Jem and the Holograms) composed an original score.

Multiplex 10: The Web Series wins Best Animation/Puppetry at Minnesota WebFest — and other festival news!

Multiplex 10: The Web Series has won the Best Animation/Puppetry award at Minnesota WebFest! This news comes hot on the heels of winning Best Web Series at two recent GeekFest Film Festivals: Long Beach Comic Con and HawaiiCon earlier in September! We couldn’t be more thrilled about our recent successes on the festival circuit.

And, last week, we learned that we’ve received nominations in SIX categories at FirstGlance Film Festivals – Philadelphia: Best Director – Web Series (Gordon McAlpin), Best Comedy (Multiplex 10: The Web Series), Best Actor – Web Series (Tom Brazelton), Best Actress – Web Series (Dana Luery Shaw), Best Ensemble Cast – Web Series, and Best Sound Design! (Although I’ve been doing the sound design for the web series, these nods are based on the pilot, a.k.a. Multiplex 10: The Animated Short, which sound designer Ian Vargo was responsible for.)

Speaking of Multiplex 10: The Animated Short, although its film festival run will continue for a little while longer, the pilot that started it all will be finally released publicly NEXT MONTH (a.k.a. October), when it makes its YouTube Premiere on October 26 at 12pm (a.k.a. noon). Set a reminder for yourself to watch it live with me — or, you know, sometime after that.

On another unrelated note: in case you missed the recent announcement — due to a big dumb mistake, the old Multiplex 10 YouTube channel was deleted, and we’ve had to reupload all of the videos that we had backups for (which was all the important stuff). If you have not already, you will need to RESUBSCRIBE at https://www.youtube.com/c/Multiplex10Cinemas in order to continue getting updates!

A massively stupid unforced error…

So… yeah. Last night I screwed something up big-time.

Not enough sleep, coupled with plain ol’ stupidity found me deleting my G Suite account, not realizing that it was associated with more than just some e-mail addresses. It turns out that I also lost all of my email from from the last… well, ever, but it was in fact much, much worse, because it also included the Multiplex 10 “brand account,” as well. Including the YouTube channel, all its subscribers, view statistics, and so on, and so forth.

I’ve been having a bad week, and this was an extra bit of fun dolloped on top.

It does not look like restoring the account is an option. Google claims that it is deleted permanently, which would make it literally the only data in the universe that is actually deleted permanently when it is supposedly deleted. But it is what it is.

I’ve already re-uploaded the web series episodes, but in order to avoid any further stupidity, I need to get some sleep before I upload the Movie Minutes reviews.

BUT. Please subscribe to the NEW YouTube channel, because I’d really like to be able to get back that custom URL as soon as possible, if nothing else. The new URL (at least temporarily) is https://www.youtube.com/c/Multiplex10Cinemas

On a brighter note, Joe Dunn and I cracked an angle for the next video, which will be either a Movie Minutes review of the newest Nic Cage movie, Mandy, or possibly some kind of weird blend between a Movie Minutes review and a web series episode…? We’re working on the script, which (sorry) I do realize has been taking a bit too long.
