The Multiplex 10: The Web Series Kickstarter prize pack giveaway that I announced Monday morning succeeded beyond my wildest hopes!

I planned to do a different giveaway next, but because I thought I’d have more time to prep stuff, I’m not ready to do that one yet—so I’m just gonna do the first one… again, meaning everyone who has backed to date has TWO chances of winning.

But… three more lucky backers who help us pass reach the $14,000 milestone (a.k.a. 75%) will win the same prize pack, which includes:

  • Signed and sketched copies of all three Multiplex print collections to date
  • A Multiplex 10: The Animated Short USB card
  • The Multiplex mini-poster set
  • A 6″x8″ brush and ink sketch of the person or character of your choice
  • plus some other dumb stuff like a bookmark and some postcards that you can use… as bookmarks!

SO YEAH! Meet Kurt and Jason (again?)

We’re coming up on one week into the Multiplex 10: The Web Series Kickstarter, and fast approaching $7,000 pledged! That’s on track to hit the goal — but around holidays (like the 4th of July this Wednesday) things get pretty slow on the Internet, so

While anybody coming to this website very likely already knows these two hooligans, in order re-re-re-introduce Kurt and Jason to potential backers around the Internet, I made this comic. And I’ll be doing a few more as we get closer to the deadline. Who doesn’t like more Multiplex 10 comics? NOBODY, that’s who.

If you haven’t already, please consider backing the Multiplex 10 project as early as possible! The closer we get to deadline, the more important it is for us to look like we’re in striking distance of the goal. Because we do have a very good chance, if my past Kickstarter are any indication, and it would be fantastic to be able to fund longer or more complicated episodes, or more than just the five web series episodes and five reviews. The more money we raise, the better we can make Multiplex 10.

I’ve been avoiding talking too much about what this new batch of episodes will be like, because it’s always possible that as we get to the production date, we’ll scrap any ideas we have now and do something completely different. But there are two ideas I’m comfortable mentioning:

  • We’re definitely going to do a Becky/Melissa spotlight episode that’s more of a direct sequel to the animated short.
  • One of them will be a horror-themed episode that we hope to be able to submit to horror film festivals afterwards.

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson calls Multiplex 10 “delightful!”

Rian Johnson calls Multiplex 10 "delightful"!

One of my favorite indie filmmakers, one Rian Johnson, had some very kind words about our little web series (which you can read for yourself above). You might have seen one or two of the movies he’s written and directed, like Brick, Looper, or maybe Star Wars: The Last Jedi?

In addition to this amazing news, the Multiplex 10 animated short was selected to screen at the upcoming Monmouth Film Festival (it’s in the Web Series category) and “Self-Help” will be screening in this year’s Small Wonders: An Exhibition of Tiny Art & Film, as well. We’re not just enormously proud of the work we’ve been doing, but I really believe we’re poised to Get Big (relatively speaking) if we can just keep up the momentum.
